DJI are consistently pushing the boundaries of what is possible with user friendly UAV or drones as they are commonly know. Currently the majority of drone users are using their craft to capture stunning aerial imagery as either a professional photographer/videoographer or simply just for fun. Products such as DJI’s Phantom or Inspire 1 have set the standard in this area. But what about other applications? More and more often we find ourselves in conversation with professionals from a vast array of different fields. From police and search and rescue to agriculture and construction, everyone has a requirement for drones to make their jobs safer, more efficient or faster. Whilst mostly satisfied with their drone’s capabilities in regards to range, stability and image quality, some users find themselves requiring more specialist equipment. A great example of one of these requirements is thermal imaging, just imagine the possibilities. This is where DJI’s new Zenmuse XT thermal imaging camera comes in.
DJI Zenmuse XT
Partnering with FLIR, DJI have created the first plug and play fully integrated thermal imaging camera compatible with their Inspire 1 and Matrice platforms.
Search and Rescue – Aerial thermal imaging allows search teams to accurately and quickly locate a missing person when paired with a DJI Inspire 1 or Matrice quadcopter.
Fire fighting – The Zenmuse XT will allow fire fighters to detect hotspots in a building allowing them to chose the safest and most efficient strategy to extinguish a fire.
Agriculture – Using a flying thermal imaging camera will allow farmers to accurately asses their crops, plan irrigation and estimate fruit and crop yields.
